Welcome to Prof. S. V. S. S. Narayana Raju YouTube Channel.

In today’s lecture, we explore Sri Ramcharitmanas, Bal Kand, Pad 80, composed by the great poet-saint Goswami Tulsidas. This remarkable passage presents one of the finest expressions of Goddess Parvati’s unwavering devotion, determination, and absolute faith in the words of her Guru.

The Saptarishis continue to test Parvati’s resolve. They advise her to reconsider her decision and offer to find her a more suitable husband one who is beautiful, pure, virtuous, gentle, and praised by the Vedas. They refer to Lord Vishnu, the Lord of Lakshmi and resident of Vaikuntha, as an ideal match endowed with every noble quality.

On hearing their proposal, Parvati responds with a gentle smile but with extraordinary firmness. She declares that, just as her body has arisen from the mountain, her determination is equally unshakable. She says that she may give up her very life, but she will not abandon her resolve.

Through the powerful metaphor of gold retaining its essential nature even after passing through fire, Parvati emphasizes that true character and genuine conviction cannot be altered by external pressure. Her devotion to Lord Shiva is not based on appearance, social approval, or worldly advantage it arises from the deepest truth of her heart.

Parvati further declares that she will never disregard the words of Sage Narada, her Guru. She expresses a profound spiritual principle: one who does not have faith in the words of the Guru cannot easily attain happiness or spiritual accomplishment even in a dream.

The concluding Doha presents the central philosophical message of this Pad. Parvati says that even if Lord Shiva appears to possess faults and Lord Vishnu is the abode of all virtues, the heart belongs to the one in whom it has truly found its love and devotion.

This Pad therefore celebrates steadfast faith, Guru-bhakti, purity of intention, spiritual commitment, and the supremacy of inner conviction over external appearances. It also teaches us that genuine devotion remains firm even when confronted by attractive alternatives, criticism, or social persuasion.

Through this lecture, we shall examine the literary beauty, philosophical depth, devotional significance, character of Parvati, importance of Guru-vakya, and key points relevant to UGC NET Hindi examinations found in Bal Kand, Pad 80.

Let us now enter the spiritual world of Goswami Tulsidas and understand how Parvati’s unshakable devotion becomes an inspiring lesson in faith, determination, loyalty, and divine love.
